View our exclusive art film starring Norman Reedus!! Directed by Jakob Dashcek:
It has been an inspiring and exciting experience to work with the talented team of award winning designers, producers at Syrup nyc as they re designed our platform into a dynamic interactive E comm meets fashion and celebrity editorials.
Syrup film added a new element to Contentmode which has been a goal of mine from the inception phase: amazing art films with celebrity guests and BTS films.
BTS: Contentmode/Syrup art film featuring Norman Reedus, Director: Jakob Daschek
On April 19th we hosted a pre launch party at The Jane Hotel Ballroom. While planning our soiree I thought it was important to involve a charity/raise money for a good cause. So I asked our past cover model: Mary-Louise Parker to join us as we honored her favorite charity: Hope North. Our party was a fun success!! We maxed out the Ballroom and enjoyed MARTINI sparkling wine minis while premiering the art films of Kate Mara andNorman Reedus for our guests and select press.
Our current cover issue celebrities attended: Kate Mara, Norman Reedus, and of course our guest of honor Mary-Louise Parker, few others came to support the charity and pre launch of Issue 7: Jaime Cepero (TV series Smash), Spencer LoFranco (star of up coming film: Jamesy boy),Eddie The Gun (British recording artist)as well as the organizers of Hope North Charity.
Mary-Louise Parker w/co star : Spencer Lofranco of up coming film: Jamesy Boy and Jaime Cepero of TV Series: SMASH
I want to thank the invaluable team members and contributors who have helped create Issue 7: Syrup nyc (you rock!), features editor: Jaimie Kourt, Polly Brown;(London features editor), Jeanette Zhu, and the talented contributing journalists.
Director (RSA) and Creative Director of Syrup nyc: Jakob Daschek, with our guest DJ for the party: Legendary UK producer: Andy Carroll
Meanwhile a special thanks to our celebrity feature guests ; Kate Mara; a down to earth fashion savvy lady, and talented actress. Norman Reedus; actor, gentleman, amazing model with a top sense of humor . Lou Lesage; Parisian actress and recording artist with a sharp wit and humor.

Florence Welch wore one of my favorite Alexander McQueen gowns to The Met Ball tonight. Which is a perfect window of opportunity to share my favorite looks in the A/W 12 Alexander McQueen show.
There is RTW and there is Sarah Burton evolving the Alexander McQueen brand to levels that clear my cynical views on RTW design. Art and fashion collide ; a futurama princess appears whom wears wedges like shes walking on water.

Decades Vintage boutique in West Hollywood creates their own vintage inspired High heel brand.
Our Features Editor Jaimie Kourt visits Cameron Silver of Decades (owner & designer of heel collection) for an exclusive moment about his new endeavor.
CM: What makes something vintage inspired, modern?
CS: As far as I am concerned, everything modern is vintage inspired
CM: How did this venture begin? Why shoes?
CS: Rick from Modern Vintage approached me and well I like shoes!
CM: Where did you begin this design process? Do the individual shoes have stories? Do you think about the look in the big picture- say the feel of the time period, a color scheme, etc?
CS: The challenge was to select a single shoe to represent a decade.
I went through my library of fashion books and my archive of shoes and distilled my fav silhouette and then came up with color stories that modernized signature shades of the era.
CM: What elements did you take from each decade to inform the corresponding style?
CS: The 50s pay homage to the Roger Vivier pump so we manipulated the heel to give a Vivier curve and added the bright blue which reminded me of a Dior gown Trudie Styler bought from us many years ago.
The 60s were a challenge since it’s such a volatile decade of styles so I thought about the classic mod T-strap flat but turned into a heel and paid homage to YSL Mondrian in the color block motif at the toe.
For the 70s I went straight to Studio 54…those metallic shoes are made for dancing.
Finally for the 80s, I thought of my friend Diane Pernet and the huge wedges she wears and wanted to do something a little NYC downtown art scene with a nod to Maud Frizon and Andrea Pfeister.
CM: Where did your passion for shoes come from?
CS: My dad…he love shoes. I always buy him shoes for his birthday.
CM: Did you receive any great advice from other shoe designers (or anyone) when heading into this project?
CS: Christian Louboutin and Brian Atwood are friends, but I didn’t want to ask them for advice. I just hope their friendship and good taste helped guide me.
CM: Did you have any muses, models, person's in mind when designing?
CS: My dear friend Angelique Soave. She has the best shoe closet and I certainly asked her advice.
CM: Do you see a future collection? What might that look like?
CS: I would love to do some sexy flats plus red carpet shoes.
CM: Do you have somebody in mind that you would truly want to wear your shoes?
CS: I hope the shoes are attractive to both the elite shopper and the aspirational fashionsita. Most important everyone tells me the shoes are comfortable so if the shoe fits, buy it. I guess that means I have everyone in mind.
CM: What is the quintessential shoe a woman must own?
CS: One is a very lonely number…I have to say if you buy the entire Decades for Modern Vintage collection we will have you covered…they are all quintessential styles.
CM: Where is this collaboration available for purchase?
CS: Decades and GILT!
CM: How do you manage your time, with all your endeavors? What is your favorite pastime outside of work?
CS: It’s very difficult to manage my time, but I am a neurotic multi-tasker and I put everything in writing and on my calendar. For free time, I love to hike with my German Spitz Gar. I don’t enjoy picking up his poo, though.

Yiqing Yin
An alumni of the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, Yiqing Yin showed at the Hyères International Festival in 2010 before displaying her debut show at F/W 12 Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week. Already gaining much recognition including the attention of Vogue France, the up-and-coming designer is the recipient of the Andam Prize for First Collections and the Grand Prize of Creation awarded by the City of Paris.
With human anatomy as her guiding inspiration, Yiqing Yin strives to create intriguing garments that enhance a woman’s figure. She manipulates jersey and sheer chiffon with such grace that all the pleating, ruching, and draping in her spring 2012 collection has given birth to breathtaking show stoppers. The Sino-French designer masters the art of structure and movement as her pieces hug all the right curves and then flow away from the body. The evening gowns are youthful with daring cutouts and in one case, a plunging neckline. One navy blue jersey number is red-carpet worthy with a high-low hem which is trending this season. Another eye-catcher is a structured pale grey frock with intricate three-dimensional weaving. A little sparkle bedecks the sleeve of a jet-black one-shoulder mini. Allowing her intuition to take the wheel, Yin ultimately creates glamourous pieces that instantly transform the wearer—evidence that she’s one designer that is sure to make a splash across the globe!

After designing stints at both Ungaro and Giambattista Valli, Charlotte Olympia Dellal launched her eponymous shoe line in 2007. The graduate from London’s Cordwainers designs her footwear with glitz and glamour in mind which translates to sophisticated, yet flirty shoes hand-crafted in Italy. Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, Beyoncé, Keira Knightley, and Katy Perry among others have pampered their tootsies with shoes featuring the trademark gold spider web sole of the brand. The Charlotte Olympia brand has worked on numerous fashion shows of many designers including Peter Som, Temperley London, Emilio de la Morena, and Clements Ribeiro. Purchase her shoes at the flagship store in London’s Mayfair and other luxury retailers such as Bergdorf’s, Net-A-Porter, Dover Street Market, Harrods, and Neiman Marcus.
One glance at Charlotte Olympia’s SS12 collection and you’ll be wanting summer to come sooner—if you’re willing to wait that long to wear these stunning shoes that is. Dellal looked to Miami in the ‘50s for inspiration which was very much apparent in art deco fan prints and detailing on shoes and scarves as well as the palm frond motif splashed across platforms with scrollwork heels and leather and suede flats. The line, appropriately called Sirens, includes ankle strap platforms in colors like metallic gold, peach, shocking pink, blush and teal and in striking cheetah and snakeskin prints. Dellal didn’t forget about wedges though. Raffia rope snaked elaborately around a black pair while pom-poms topped off burlap wedges with red x’s scattered along the heel. Dellal also revised the classic clear Pandora clutch box with a feather design in both orange and black. To change up the look of the line’s signature evening go-to accessory, the designer offered pouch inserts in black and white stripes and in a teal palm frond print.
Act quickly to get your hands on these super retro and super chic heels and tap into your inner bombshell.

Simone Rocha is young, bright and is quickly establishing herself as one of London’s rising fashion stars. The former Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Diana Vreeland may have said it best, “The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it.” Simone Rocha has just that. A creative mind and unique wit that produced her S/S 2012 collection based on Louise Bourgeouis, a renowned French-American artist and sculptor and words. As a writer and lover of art history I was impressed that she was able to combine the two to create an effortlessly cool boy-meets-girl signature style. It’s modern and strong, yet romantic. It also comes as no surprise that even Lady Gaga is a fan as she was gracing the pages of Elle UK donning my favorite piece from the spring collection, the sheer green beauty dress.
After learning of her allure to Louise Bourgeouis, I couldn’t help but allude to my favorite book, “Just Kids” by Patti Smith about her evolution as a poet and performer, and Robert Mapplethorpe’s highly controversial and often provocative photography. Mapplethorpe the photographer was also Patti Smith’s partner from 1967–1974, photographing flowers, especially orchids and calla lilies, and celebrities, including Andy Warhol, Deborah Harry, Richard Gere, Peter Gabriel, Garce Jones and the iconic photograph that appears on the cover of Smith’s first album, Horses. A very special friend who is an incredible photographer gave me the book as I embarked on a life and career in New York City hoping my writing would evolve and matter. Mapplethorpe took a portrait of Louise Bourgeouis in a fur coat, which was the inspiration behind Simone Rocha’s precise tailoring on the fur sleeves of her coats of her A/W 2011 collection. Her collections have shown her growing confidence that will make her a true designer of substance and style. I know Patti Smith would have admired her work as she “preferred an artist who transformed his time, not mirrored it.”
Louise Bourgeouis was also known for her large spider sculpture, the Maman, which stands more than nine metres high and is a steel and marble sculpture. Her work in the late 1990’s began using the spider as a central image in her art, which alluded to the strength of her mother, with metaphors of spinning, weaving, nurture and protection. Louise Bourgeouis said “The Spider is an ode to my mother. She was my best friend. Like a spider, my mother was a weaver. My family was in the business of tapestry restoration, and my mother was in charge of the workshop. Like spiders, my mother was very clever. Spiders are friendly presences that eat mosquitoes. We know that mosquitoes spread diseases and are therefore unwanted. So, spiders are helpful and protective, just like my mother.” It is no wonder that Rocha can relate to Bourgeouis as an artist and she specified her mother being one of her main supporters.
Simone Rocha is clearly wise beyond her years. At 25 years old she is laying a solid foundation to make her mark in fashion and art. Citing a special woman in our art history, such as Louise Bourgeouis is enough for me to label her as a “Woman to Watch.” She is someone I’m excited to watch evolve and it’s not because her dad is the famous John Rocha but due to the fact that she is fashioning her own path.
Simone Rocha
Simone Rocha was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1986. In 2008 Simone graduated with a BA in fashion from The National College of Art and Design, Dublin. In 2010, Simone graduated from the fashion MA at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, London. Her graduation collection was presented as part of the Central Saint Martin’s MA collections during London Fashion Week.

Regarding your footwear—a collection of Perspex, pony skin and leather brogues—how did you decide to prop them up on a sharp clear wedge?
I wanted to modernize them and make them lady-like. I love the tradition and masculinity of a classic brogue, but elevating this into a high heel makes it fresh.
What was the thought process behind your color-scheme?
For color I was drawn to fresh pink and green, black and white, and shine because of a Louise Bourgeouis quote.
What is your favorite time in fashion?
The 1800’s.
Who are your ideal muses?
Real people with their own identity.
Where do you get your support?
My Mom and friends.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Also through friends, Ireland, galleries and parks.

Paris is arguably the best city to attend shows in which brands like Hermes do not need to rely on the front row celebrity attendance in order for their brand to increase it's value. When I think of Hermes I think first and formost of their exquisite saddlery, their artist collaboration scarves, their "to order" only bags and last but not least superior quality RTW that one can wear and collect as one does art. Hermes is one of the few luxury RTW brands that also incorporates "Eco Friendly" choices in their production.
Extreme RTW trends come and go as do hair color trends on pop stars; but Hermes will always be a brand that I want to collect and wear for more than a season and not feel I have to advertise my appreciation for the world of Luxury RTW.
